In June 2026, the gas energy price for a Luxembourg business ranges from 3.99 c€/kWh (Enovos fix naturgas Pro) to 5.54 c€/kWh (SUDgaz Green 100) — roughly 43.9 to 60.9 c€/m³ (≈ 11 kWh per m³). For 4,000 m³/year, the gap between the cheapest and the greenest offer reaches about €682 per year on the energy component alone.

As with electricity, a business gas bill is made of the energy price (set by the supplier), the network charges (Creos or Sudgaz, by subscribed power), the CO₂ tax, the natural-gas tax and 8% VAT. Only the energy price varies between suppliers — so that is what we put at the heart of the comparison, expressed in c€/kWh (and its c€/m³ equivalent).

We do not show a typical monthly bill: a gas-heated shop (2,000 m³/year) and an industrial SME (8,000 m³/year and up) have profiles with nothing in common. The price per kWh, however, stays directly comparable.

Two suppliers sell natural gas to businesses in Luxembourg: Enovos (the historic supplier, across the whole connected territory) and SUDénergie (via the Sudgaz network in the south — Esch-sur-Alzette, Schifflange). As gas is a fossil fuel, the differentiation is on price, rate stability and degree of carbon offset.

Our recommendation by profile

Our top pick in June 2026: Enovos fix naturgas Pro. It combines the lowest energy price, a fixed price and climate-neutral gas — the best security/price/footprint combination for most businesses. See also our Enovos and SUDénergie reviews.

⚠ Note on Enovos: the fix naturgas and naturgas plans share the same name for households and businesses — only the per-kWh rate differs. We label them "Pro" and show the business rate (Enovos simulator "Professionnels" tab), distinct from the residential rates on our residential gas comparator.

On a business gas bill, the energy price is only part of the total. The following lines, identical across suppliers, are added:

• Network charges — set by the grid operator (Creos across most of the country, Sudgaz in the south), with a consumption component (per kWh), a capacity component and a monthly access fee. They rise with installed power.
• CO₂ tax — the major gas specificity: a steadily rising carbon tax that weighs significantly on the bill (often several hundred euros a year for an SME). It does not apply to electricity.
• Natural-gas tax and 8% VAT.

Key point: the CO₂ tax makes gas increasingly costly over time and strengthens the case for CO₂-neutral gas or for considering a heat pump. For large consumers (above 50,000 m³/year), SUDénergie offers individual tariffs.

As these lines are common to all suppliers, they are excluded from our energy-price ranking — the only truly negotiable one.

Natural gas remains a fossil fuel, but several options let a business reduce or offset its footprint:

• Enovos — climate-neutral gas: emissions from your consumption are offset through certified climate projects. The nova naturgas option adds high-quality biogas produced in Luxembourg and Europe.
• SUDgaz Green 50: 50% of gas offset with renewable certificates — an economical first step.
• SUDgaz Green 100: 100% of emissions offset — the gas carbon footprint is neutralised.

The energy price is guaranteed for the full contract duration. It is the budget-security choice: no surprises if gas prices spike, especially relevant in a volatile geopolitical context. At 3.99 c€/kWh, it is also the lowest price on the market in June 2026.

📊 Variable indexed rate (Enovos naturgas Pro, SUDgaz)

The price tracks the market with periodic revisions. You benefit from drops (gas prices fell in late 2025 according to SUDénergie) but remain exposed to rises. Suited to a business expecting prices to ease and accepting some risk.

Our advice: in a low-price period like the current one, locking a fixed price effectively protects a company's gas budget. Conversely, if you expect a fall, variable can pay off.

1. Compare the energy component — a 1 c€/kWh gap is about €440/year for 4,000 m³ (44,000 kWh). The gap between fix naturgas and SUDgaz Green 100 reaches €682/year at that volume.
2. Choose the right offset level — neutral gas costs a little more per kWh but secures your CSR image and limits exposure to the CO₂ tax.
3. Activate discounts — SEPA direct debit, e-invoicing and customer portal (mySUDenergie) or connect discount (Enovos) cut the bill effortlessly.
4. Right-size installed power — as with electricity, over-sized power inflates the network access fee.
5. Reduce consumption — insulation, boiler tuning, heat recovery; in time, study a heat pump. See also our tips to cut your gas bill.

The question arises for any manager investing or renovating. Gas remains competitive to buy and suited to high-heat needs (processes, catering, heating large volumes), but the rising CO₂ tax and decarbonisation grants are shifting the equation.

A heat pump removes the CO₂ tax and gas dependency, at the cost of a higher upfront investment and increased electricity use — hence the value of pairing the project with a competitive business electricity offer, or even a dynamic tariff or solar self-consumption. Switching gas supplier is free and with no supply interruption: the grid (Creos or Sudgaz) stays the same, only the company billing your energy changes. The new supplier handles cancelling the old contract.

Business-specific points: check your connection (is your municipality served by the Sudgaz or Creos network?), the commitment period of your current contract and your subscribed power.
