20 GB 5G valid in Luxembourg and across the European Union
Automatic data rollover of unused gigabytes each month
Data Boost × 1/year: one-off doubling of your data allowance
Cancel anytime, no fees — zero commitment
✦ Our analysis
The GO Mobile M is the only 20 GB plan on the Luxembourg market available with no commitment, and the only one to combine automatic rollover of unused data with an annual Data Boost. For €21/month it gives you 20 GB of 5G usable in Luxembourg and across the entire European Union, with 3,000 call and text units and a free eSIM.
Strengths
At the 20 GB tier, this is the only offer on the Luxembourg market available with no commitment whatsoever: you stay free to leave at any time, with no fees and no notice period.
Automatic rollover of unused data and the annual Data Boost are two features unique to Luxembourg: your allowance adapts to your quiet months as well as your heavy ones.

Watch out for
Roaming outside Europe, notably in the United States and Canada, is not covered by this plan.

Offer news — Orange overhauls its entire mobile range

Switchr analysis · surveyed directly on orange.lu on 10 September 2026

Between July and September 2026, Orange Luxembourg withdrew its four long-standing plans — Access+, 100% Win, Boom and BeUnlimited — and replaced them with three plans named after their data allowance: 5GB, 50GB and Unlimited. This is not a price adjustment, it is a repositioning: Orange is stepping away from rock-bottom pricing and high volume, and towards included international coverage. The withdrawn plans can no longer be subscribed to — if you still see them elsewhere, that information is out of date.

Four moves worth noting

1. The entry ticket rises by 29%. From €6.99 to €8.99, Orange loses its position as the cheapest plan on the Luxembourg market — that title now goes to Eltrona Mobile 2 GB (€5.99), ahead of POST POP Mobile XS (€8). There is a genuine trade-off: the entry tier moves from 3 GB on 4G to 5 GB on 5G, with the United States included and 3,000 call/text units instead of 300. It is no longer the same product — but the €7 psychological threshold is gone.

2. Data-for-money falls by 42%. This is the heaviest move. The best ratio in Orange's range drops from 4.35 GB per euro (Boom, 100 GB at €22.99) to 2.50 GB per euro (50GB, 50 GB at €19.99). Orange was the sole occupant of the "very large volume at a low price" position on the Luxembourg market: that position is now vacant. No operator offers 100 GB with European roaming under €25 any more.

3. A mid-range tier disappears. There is nothing left between €8.99 and €19.99 at Orange. Users in the 10–20 GB bracket, who used to find 100% Win at €16.99, must either drop to 5 GB or jump to 50 GB. That demand mechanically shifts to Tango GO Mobile M (20 GB, €21) and LOL Mobile L (15 GB, €22), the only occupants of that slot.

4. The unlimited promotion is gone. BeUnlimited was advertised at €19.99/month for 3 months before moving to €39.99. The new Unlimited is €39.99 from month one. The list price is identical, but the first-year cost rises from €419.88 to €479.88 — €60 more. Orange remains the cheapest unlimited plan in the country, but the gap with Tango GO Mobile Unlimited (€45) and LOL Mobile UNLIMITED (€45) narrows considerably.

What Orange gains in the process

📶
The whole range on 5G
Access+ ran on 4G and 100% Win on 4G+: all three new plans are 5G, including the €8.99 entry tier.
🇺🇸
The US on all three plans
Previously reserved for Boom and BeUnlimited, the United States is now included from €8.99/month — data, calls and texts.
🌍
Out-of-zone data, a Luxembourg first
5 GB in more than 50 destinations (50GB) and 25 GB in more than 90 destinations (Unlimited), with no add-on to activate. No other Luxembourg operator includes data outside Europe/US in its base plan.
📞
Harmonised voice allowances
3,000 call and text units on all three plans, against just 300 on the former entry tier.
🏠
A readable Livebox discount
−€4/month on 5GB, −€7 on 50GB, −€10 on Unlimited — i.e. €4.99 / €12.99 / €29.99 for a Livebox subscriber.

The Switchr verdict

The new range is more coherent and better equipped internationally, but markedly less aggressive on the two fronts where Orange had established itself. In practice, for a Luxembourg consumer in September 2026:

  • Were you after the cheapest plan? No longer Orange. Look at Eltrona Mobile 2 GB (€5.99) or POST POP Mobile XS (€8).
  • Were you after the largest data allowance? No longer Orange either. Eltrona Mobile 100 GB (€29.99) offers the largest raw volume, but without European roaming; for volume usable across Europe, Orange 50GB (€19.99) remains the best ratio, ahead of Tango GO Mobile L (40 GB, €32).
  • Do you travel outside Europe? Orange becomes the most interesting choice instead: it is the only operator in the country to include data in 50 to 90 destinations with no add-on or pack to activate.
  • Are you a Livebox subscriber? The €7–€10/month discount changes the maths: 50GB at €12.99 becomes the most aggressive offer on the market for its volume.

Methodology: surveyed directly on orange.lu on 10 September 2026, prices excluding operator promotions unless stated, 12-month costs calculated with promotions included. Access+, 100% Win, Boom and BeUnlimited are no longer in Orange's catalogue and can no longer be subscribed to.

1. Mobile plan prices in Luxembourg — September 2026

In September 2026, mobile plans in Luxembourg range from €8/month (POST POP Mobile XS, 3 GB) to €65/month (POST POP Mobile MAXI, unlimited in Luxembourg + 110 GB in Europe and unlimited USA/Canada calls). The mid-range sweet spot (20–50 GB) sits between €19.99 and €35/month. For comparable services, price gaps between operators can exceed 60% according to our Switchr analysis — unlimited plans with USA roaming range from €39.99 (Orange Unlimited) to €65/month (POST POP MAXI). Two moves define this autumn: Orange has narrowed its range to three plans (5GB, 50GB, Unlimited), all open to Europe and the United States, and POST is applying −50% for 6 months on POP Mobile M to MAXI until 30 September 2026. By choosing the right plan for your profile, you can save up to €25/month, or more than €300 per year.

2. Which is the best mobile operator in Luxembourg in 2026?

In September 2026, Tango and Orange stand out as the most competitive operators. Tango leads on innovation and flexibility (100% no-contract, data rollover, Data Boost, Keep Surfing). Orange has simplified its range to three plans (5GB, 50GB, Unlimited), all open to Europe and the United States, with up to €10/month off for Livebox subscribers. POST dominates on 5G network quality (nationwide coverage, up to 1.5 Gbit/s) and international premium plans, and is applying −50% for 6 months from POP Mobile M to MAXI until 30 September 2026. Luxembourg Online is the only credible alternative for unlimited no-contract at €45/month.

Why Tango stands out in September 2026

Tango is the operator that pushes flexibility and data features furthest in Luxembourg, and it is also the only one occupying certain slots on the market:

  • Three data features unique in the country. Monthly rollover of unused data (S, M and L tiers), the Data Boost that doubles your allowance once a year (M and L) and Keep Surfing, which lets you carry on browsing at no charge once the allowance is used up (L). No other Luxembourg operator offers any of these three mechanisms.
  • The only 20 GB and 40 GB tiers on the market without commitment. GO Mobile M (20 GB, €21/month) and GO Mobile L (40 GB, €32/month) are, at those precise volumes, the only offers in the country available with no minimum term.
  • The only US + Canada plan without commitment. GO Mobile Unlimited Extra (€60/month) covers Europe, the United States and Canada with 95 GB and 6,000 call/text units, without tying you in for twelve months — the other offer on the market covering both destinations requires a commitment.
  • Voice allowances among the highest available. GO Mobile Unlimited and Unlimited Extra both include 6,000 units of calls and texts, double the 3,000-unit standard applied by most Luxembourg plans.
  • 100% commitment-free across the whole SIM-only range, with a free eSIM and digital press included on the upper tiers.

At list price, Tango is also €3 to €5/month cheaper than the equivalent POST offer at identical data volume (20 GB: €21 vs €26; 40 GB: €32 vs €35), and without the twelve-month commitment. For completeness: POST's back-to-school promotion (−50% for 6 months, until 30 September 2026) temporarily reverses that ranking — over the first twelve months a POP Mobile M costs €234 against €252 for a GO Mobile M. Tango moves back ahead from month 16, and remains the only one of the two you can cancel in the meantime without a fee.

Where Tango is not the best choice, we say so too: Orange 50GB offers the best data-for-money among plans open to Europe (50 GB at €19.99, i.e. 2.5 GB per euro — only Eltrona Mobile 100 GB beats it on raw volume, but without European roaming), Orange Unlimited is the cheapest unlimited plan (€39.99), and POST retains the country's best 5G coverage.

Mid-range (15–25 GB/month): Tango GO Mobile M (€21/month) — 20 GB + data rollover, no contract, strong value in its class. For more data, GO Mobile L (€32/month, 40 GB).

Large data allowance, contained price: Orange 50GB (€19.99/month) — 50 GB covering Luxembourg, Europe and the United States, plus 5 GB in more than 50 destinations, no contract.

Heavy data user / unlimited: Orange Unlimited (€39.99/month) — unlimited data LU+EU+US and 25 GB in more than 90 destinations, no contract.

International traveller: POST POP Mobile MAXI (€65/month, €32.50/month for 6 months) — unlimited data in Luxembourg + 110 GB in Europe, unlimited calls to the USA and Canada, one Around the World activation per month, 5G 1.5 Gbit/s.

Tight budget: POST POP Mobile XS (€8/month, 3 GB) or Orange 5GB (€8.99/month, 5 GB) for a simple Luxembourg number.

3. How to compare mobile plans in Luxembourg

Choosing the right mobile plan in Luxembourg goes beyond price and data volume. Four key criteria matter: included calls and SMS, data volume, roaming conditions, and contract commitment. A seemingly cheaper plan can cost more if calls are billed per minute or if data is insufficient for your usage patterns.
📞
1. Included calls & SMS
1 unit = 1 call minute = 1 SMS (common convention for all Luxembourg operators). We display "Unlimited" from 3,000 units/month — a threshold beyond which normal usage is not limited in practice.
📊
2. Data volume
Data is the biggest pricing driver. Estimate your actual monthly usage honestly. Tango is the only operator offering data rollover — unused data carries over to the next month automatically on the S, M and L tiers.
✈️
3. International roaming
All plans include EU roaming at no extra cost (Roam Like at Home regulation). For the USA: all three Orange plans (5GB, 50GB, Unlimited) and LOL Mobile UNLIMITED. For the USA and Canada: POST POP Mobile MAXI and Tango GO Mobile Unlimited Extra.
📋
4. Contract commitment
Orange and Tango are 100% no-contract in 2026. POST requires a commitment period. No-contract plans are essential for cross-border workers and expats whose situation may change.

Conditions to check before subscribing

Fair use: Even "unlimited data" plans can apply a reasonable-use policy. Check the tariff brochure to see whether reduced speeds kick in beyond a certain monthly volume.

5G speed: Not every operator offers the same 5G speed. POST is the only one to guarantee a minimum 5G speed of up to 1.5 Gbit/s on its premium plans. Orange and Tango offer 5G but without a guaranteed maximum speed.

Included options: POST offers phone insurance at €2/month, and one Around the World activation per month on the MAXI plan. Tango offers Data Boost (double your data allowance once a year, M and L tiers) and Keep Surfing on the L tier. These options can represent significant added value.

4. Which data volume to choose for your Luxembourg mobile plan?

Data is the single biggest factor influencing mobile plan pricing. In 2026, mid-range plans (15–25 GB) are the most suitable for the majority of Luxembourg users. Wi-Fi is widely available in professional and residential environments, reducing effective data consumption. Cross-border workers and frequent travellers need more EU roaming data.
📧
Light usage (emails + browsing)
3 to 5 GB/month — POST POP Mobile XS (3 GB, €8) or Orange 5GB (5 GB LU+EU+US, €8.99). For a Luxembourg number with minimal data needs.
📱
Everyday usage (social media + maps)
6 to 20 GB/month — Tango GO Mobile S (6 GB + rollover, €16) or GO Mobile M (20 GB + rollover, €21). Competitive value range in 2026.
🎵
Intensive usage (streaming audio + video)
20 to 50 GB/month — Orange 50GB (50 GB LU+EU+US, €19.99), POST POP Mobile M (20 GB, €26 — €13 for 6 months) or Tango GO Mobile L (40 GB + rollover, €32). Covers Spotify, YouTube HD and heavy browsing.
📺
Heavy user / hotspot sharing
Unlimited data — Orange Unlimited (unlimited LU+EU+US, €39.99) or Tango GO Mobile Unlimited (unlimited in Luxembourg + 70 GB EU, €45). For HD streaming on the go and laptop tethering.
🌍
International traveller
USA / Canada / worldwide — POST MAXI (unlimited data LU + 110 GB EU, unlimited calls USA+CAN, one Around the World activation per month, €65), Tango Unlimited Extra (unlimited LU + 95 GB EU+USA+CAN, €60) or Orange Unlimited (25 GB in 90+ destinations, €39.99).

Tango's data rollover: a concrete advantage. If your GO Mobile M includes 20 GB/month and you only use 14 GB in January, the remaining 6 GB automatically carry over to February — giving you 26 GB that month. This feature eliminates waste and adapts to your real consumption patterns. Unique to Tango in Luxembourg, on the GO Mobile S, M and L tiers.

On top of rollover, Tango offers Data Boost (M and L tiers): the option to double your data allowance once a year. On a GO Mobile L (40 GB), that means 80 GB available for one month — ideal before a long trip or during a high-usage period. The GO Mobile L also adds Keep Surfing, which lets you carry on browsing at no extra charge once the allowance is used up.

5. No-contract mobile plans in Luxembourg: 2026 market overview

In 2026, Orange and Tango offer their entire mobile range without any contract commitment. Luxembourg Online is also fully no-contract. POST is the only major operator still requiring a commitment period. No-contract plans are ideal for expats, cross-border workers, and anyone whose professional or personal situation may change.
OperatorNo-contractNo-contract plan (example)Price

Why choose a no-contract plan? Flexibility is essential for newcomers to Luxembourg, cross-border workers whose professional situation may change, or simply to take advantage of the best deals on the market without waiting for a commitment to end. In 2026, Tango and Orange offer no-contract plans that are just as competitive — if not more so — than their competitors' contract plans.

6. Which mobile plan for expats and cross-border workers in Luxembourg?

Over 220,000 cross-border workers commute daily into Luxembourg from France, Belgium and Germany. For these profiles, a suitable mobile plan needs a generous call and text allowance towards Europe, sufficient EU roaming data (at least 20–30 GB), and ideally no contract commitment. For expats travelling to the USA or Asia, POST MAXI and Tango Unlimited Extra plans are options worth considering.

Key criteria for a cross-border worker

1. Unlimited calls in Luxembourg and your country of residence. You make professional calls from France, Belgium or Germany using your Luxembourg number. POST (LU+EU calls included), Orange (unlimited) and Tango (unlimited EU calls/SMS) all cover this need.

2. Sufficient EU roaming data. The EU "Roam Like at Home" regulation lets you use your Luxembourg data across the entire EEA at the same rate. Plan for at least 15–25 GB/month if you regularly work from your country of residence without professional Wi-Fi access.

3. No contract commitment. A cross-border worker's situation can change: new employer, relocation. A no-contract plan (Tango, Orange) provides the flexibility you need.

Should you keep your French, Belgian or German plan? No, not if you work regularly in Luxembourg. A foreign number can deter professional contacts and complicate certain procedures (opening a bank account, flat hunting, dealing with the administration). A Luxembourg number is a strong signal of local integration.

7. 5G in Luxembourg: coverage, speeds and operators

By 2026, 5G covers virtually the entire Luxembourg territory. POST has the most extensive network with speeds up to 1.5 Gbit/s on its premium plans. Orange and Tango offer good 5G coverage in urban areas and major transport corridors. All modern mobile plans include 5G by default — although speeds may be capped depending on the plan chosen.
Operator5G coverageMax 5G speed (plans)1 Gbit/s outside capital?
POSTNational — dense across Centre, South, East, North1.5 Gbit/s (MAXI)✅ Yes — Ettelbruck, FR & DE borders
OrangeGood — high density in Luxembourg City, South, NorthUncapped (plan-dependent)❌ Not recorded outside urban areas
TangoComparable to Orange — good in urban areasUncapped (plan-dependent)❌ A few points along FR border

How to get 5G in Luxembourg: (1) A 5G-compatible smartphone (all modern devices from 2022+ qualify). (2) A 5G plan — all current plans include 5G by default. POST explicitly guarantees minimum 5G speeds by plan tier (500 Mbit/s for XS, S, M and L, and up to 1.5 Gbit/s for XL and MAXI). (3) Being in a 5G coverage zone — check operator maps or nPerf.

The concrete benefits of 5G: speeds up to 10× faster than 4G (up to 20 Gbit/s in theory), latency cut to under 1 ms (vs 20–30 ms on 4G), and improved stability in dense areas (city centres, events, transport). For everyday use (streaming, browsing) 4G is often enough — 5G makes the difference for 4K streaming, heavy downloads and cloud gaming.

8. How to switch mobile operator in Luxembourg

Switching mobile operator in Luxembourg takes 1 to 3 business days. Your new operator handles number portability entirely. The potential saving is significant: for comparable service, the most expensive offer in a category can cost up to twice the price of the cheapest. There has never been a better time to compare.
  1. Check your current contract: commitment end date (if with POST), notice period (typically 1 month), early termination fees.
  2. Identify services linked to your number: online banking, two-factor authentication, apps. If you keep your number (portability), these services continue working automatically.
  3. Compare plans on Switchr.lu based on your actual consumption profile.
  4. Subscribe with your new operator stating you want to keep your number. Provide ID and proof of address.
  5. Wait for portability (1–3 business days). Keep your old SIM in your phone until transfer day, then swap to the new one.

You can save up to €100 a year by switching to an equivalent plan. Take advantage of welcome promotions (free months, free activation) reserved for new customers.

→ Full guide: switching mobile operator in Luxembourg · Number portability in Luxembourg

9. Mobile number portability in Luxembourg

Number portability lets you keep your Luxembourg phone number when switching operator. The process takes 1 to 3 business days and is fully managed by your new operator. Expect a brief service interruption on transfer day.

How it works: when subscribing with your new operator, simply state you want to keep your current number. The new operator contacts the old one and manages the transfer. You receive your new SIM by post or in-store, and get an SMS with the exact transfer date and time.

On transfer day: keep your old SIM in your phone until the scheduled time. You'll experience a brief interruption (minutes to a few hours). Then swap the SIM. Your number is immediately active on the new network.

Porting a foreign number? It is not possible to port a non-Luxembourg number to a Luxembourg operator. You'll need a new Luxembourg number and progressively migrate your contacts and linked services.

10. Prepaid SIM cards in Luxembourg: Tango, POST TipTop, Orange Hello

All three networks sell a prepaid card: Tango Prepaid (the GO card, the most used in the country, with built-in monthly data packs), POST TipTop (sets from €5 to €100, credit bonus on every top-up, DATA15 pack via SMS to 64000) and Orange Hello (€5-€30 top-ups, data bonus, USA included in the roaming zone). Since the law of 7 June 2017, ID registration is mandatory when buying a card with a Luxembourg number.

Prepaid or no-contract plan?

Prepaid is unbeatable for a short stay, a child or a budget controlled to the cent: no contract, no direct debit, top up whenever you want. But as soon as you stay more than a few weeks in Luxembourg, a no-contract plan almost always works out cheaper: Tango GO Mobile S (€16/month, 6 GB, 5G, cancel anytime) or Orange 5GB (€8.99/month, 5 GB LU+EU+US) give you more data and included calls for the same cost or less than a regularly topped-up card — with no risk of being cut off out of credit.

Our take: prepaid to test the network or as a stopgap, no-contract plan for any regular use. The Luxembourg market makes the choice easy: unlike France or Germany, almost every plan (Tango, Orange, Luxembourg Online, Eltrona) is already contract-free — only POST requires 12 months.

11. Roaming: your Luxembourg plan abroad

The European "Roam Like at Home" rule (EU Regulation 2022/612, guaranteed until 2032) covers 32 countries: your plan's calls, texts and data work across the EU/EEA at no extra cost, within the fair use limit. Outside the EU, data surcharges are automatically capped at €50 with an alert SMS on arrival. Watch out: Switzerland is not covered by RLAH.

What to check before you travel

1. The roaming data cap (fair use). An EU formula sets how much data you can use at the domestic rate — on very cheap plans, the roaming allowance can be lower than the domestic one. Operators show it in each offer's details (the "EU roaming" column in our comparison table). 2. Special zones. Orange includes the USA across its whole range (5GB, 50GB, Unlimited), and adds data in 50 to 90 further destinations on its two top tiers. POST relies on more than 600 roaming partners worldwide with its Around the World non-EU packs. 3. Cross-border workers cross the border twice a day: fair use is calibrated for that case — see our cross-border section.

For a long stay outside the EU (United States, Asia…), compare your operator's roaming pack with a local travel eSIM — often cheaper beyond a few GB. And to understand the technology, see the eSIM section.

12. eSIM in Luxembourg: compatibility and activation

POST, Tango and Orange all offer eSIM: the operator profile downloads onto the phone's built-in chip, usually by scanning a QR code — no physical card, no waiting for the post. Compatibility: iPhone since the XR (2018), Samsung Galaxy since the S20 (2020), Google Pixel since the 3.

The use cases that matter

Two lines on one phone. Physical SIM for the main number, eSIM for the work line (or vice versa) — the most common set-up in Luxembourg, especially among cross-border workers keeping a number from their home country. Instant activation. Subscribe online in the morning, number active within the hour. Travel outside the EU. A local data eSIM combines with your Luxembourg number, which stays reachable.

Compatibility traps: iPhones sold in mainland China do not support eSIM; some Galaxy models sold in the US, Korea or Hong Kong don't either — check the exact model with the operator. US-sold iPhone 14+ are the opposite: eSIM-only, with no SIM tray.

16. Frequently asked questions — Mobile plans in Luxembourg

In September 2026, the two most competitive operators in Luxembourg are Tango and Orange, each leading on its own ground. For an all-round plan, Tango GO Mobile M (20 GB, €21/month, no commitment) is the best choice: the only plan on the market to combine automatic rollover of unused data and Data Boost (volume doubled once a year), two options unique to Luxembourg so you never lose your GB. Orange has simplified its range to three no-contract plans that all include Europe and the United States: Orange 50GB (€19.99, 50 GB) now offers the best data-for-money among plans open to Europe, and Orange Unlimited (€39.99) remains the cheapest unlimited plan, ahead of Tango GO Mobile Unlimited (€45). The entry ticket is POST POP Mobile XS (€8/month, 3 GB), ahead of Orange 5GB (€8.99). For USA/Canada travellers, POST POP Mobile MAXI (€65) is the only plan to include unlimited USA/Canada calls plus one Around the World activation every month. Worth knowing: POST is applying −50% for 6 months on POP Mobile M to MAXI until 30 September 2026. On network, POST has the best 5G coverage (no.1 nPerf 2025). See the live comparison.
Plans range from €8/month (POST POP Mobile XS, 3 GB) to €65/month (POST MAXI). Mid-range (20–50 GB) costs €19.99–35/month. Unlimited plans from €39.99/month. At a comparable data volume, the most expensive offer in a category can cost up to twice as much as the cheapest.
POST has the most extensive 5G coverage with speeds up to 1.5 Gbit/s. Orange is second with strong Luxembourg City coverage. Tango is comparable to Orange in urban areas. Only POST achieves 1.5 Gbit/s 5G outside urban centres. 5G guide.
Orange, Tango and Luxembourg Online are 100% no-contract in 2026. Only POST requires a commitment. No-contract plans guide.
Unique to Tango in Luxembourg: unused monthly data automatically carries over to the next month. With GO Mobile M (20 GB/month), if you use 14 GB in January, the remaining 6 GB add to your 20 GB February allowance — giving you 26 GB that month. Eliminates waste and adapts to variable usage patterns. Available on the GO Mobile S, M and L tiers.
The process takes 1–3 business days. Subscribe with your new operator and request number retention. The new operator handles everything. Keep your old SIM until transfer day, then swap. Expect a brief service interruption. Number portability guide.
Luxembourg Online LOL Mobile UNLIMITED (€45/month) — unlimited LU+EU+USA, no contract. Or POST POP Mobile MAXI (€65/month) — unlimited data in Luxembourg + 110 GB in Europe and unlimited USA/Canada calls, 5G 1.5 Gbit/s. Expat mobile guide.
For a cross-border worker: Tango GO Mobile M (€21/month) — 20 GB + rollover, no contract. For more data: GO Mobile L (€32/month, 40 GB) or Orange 50GB (€19.99/month, 50 GB LU+EU+US). For USA trips: Orange Unlimited (€39.99) or Tango Unlimited Extra (€60, USA+Canada). Cross-border worker guide.
Eltrona Mobile 2 GB has the lowest price on the market at €5.99/month (2 GB, 60 min/SMS, POST network). For POST 5G directly: POST POP Mobile XS (€8, 3 GB), then Orange 5GB (5 GB LU+EU+US, €8.99). For a good data/price ratio at entry level: Orange 50GB (€19.99/month, 50 GB) or Tango GO Mobile S (€16/month, 6 GB + rollover). You can cut the bill further by combining internet and mobile with the same operator: Orange (up to −€10/month with a Livebox), Tango (GO Fibre + GO Mobile packs: +30 GB and −€3/month) and Eltrona (Combo for Internet/TV customers) apply a multi-service discount, as do Luxembourg Online (€5/month off mobile for its internet customers) and POST (POP combo). Cheap plans.
Tango GO Mobile M (€21/month, 20 GB + rollover) is a suitable family plan: data rollover, no contract, adjustable as needs change. For a large allowance at a low per-line price: Orange 50GB (€19.99, 50 GB LU+EU+US). For families with very heavy needs: Orange Unlimited (€39.99, unlimited data) removes any overage stress. Family mobile plan guide.
Yes, strongly recommended. A foreign number can deter professional contacts and complicate administrative tasks in Luxembourg (flat hunting, opening a bank account, employer contacts). A Luxembourg number eases integration and is better received in the local professional context. Full cross-border worker guide.
Data Boost is a Tango-exclusive option that lets you double your monthly data allowance once a year. On a GO Mobile L (40 GB), that means 80 GB for one month — ideal before a holiday or during a high-travel month. It is offered on the GO Mobile M and L tiers and activated from the Tango app.
Tango: innovation and flexibility (100% no contract, data rollover, Data Boost, Keep Surfing). Orange: a range simplified to three plans (5GB, 50GB, Unlimited), all open to Europe and the United States, no contract, with up to −€10/month for Livebox subscribers. POST: most extensive nationwide 5G network and premium international plans (USA, Canada, Around the World option). Luxembourg Online: competitively priced unlimited no-contract plan (€45/month). See the live comparison.
Yes. POST, Tango and Orange offer eSIM on most of their plans — handy for activating a line without waiting for a physical card and for recent smartphones. Luxembourg Online still works mainly with a physical SIM. Check your device's eSIM compatibility before subscribing. Everything about eSIM in Luxembourg.
Yes. Most recent smartphones support dual SIM (one physical SIM + one eSIM, or two eSIMs). It's the ideal setup for cross-border workers: keep a personal French, Belgian or German number while adding a Luxembourg work number. You manage both lines on one device and choose which SIM handles calls and data. eSIM and dual SIM guide.
The "Roam Like at Home" regulation only covers the EEA (EU + Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway). Switzerland and the UK are outside this zone — check your operator's roaming options or rates before travelling. For the USA, roaming is included on all three Orange plans (5GB, 50GB, Unlimited) and on LOL Mobile UNLIMITED. For the USA and Canada: POST POP Mobile MAXI and Tango GO Mobile Unlimited Extra. POST XL does not cover the USA. Beyond that, POST MAXI includes one Around the World activation per month and Orange 50GB/Unlimited add data in 50 to 90 further destinations. Roaming guide.
Yes. POST, Orange and Tango offer prepaid cards, ideal for occasional use, tourists or a short stay with no commitment. You top up on demand, with no monthly bill. For regular use in Luxembourg, a plan still offers better value per GB.
First contact your operator's customer service in writing. If unresolved, you can refer the matter to the ILR (Institut Luxembourgeois de Régulation), the authority that oversees telecoms in Luxembourg. The ILR governs number portability and pricing practices, among others. Keep your contracts and written exchanges as evidence.
Yes. POST, Orange and Tango offer deals pairing a plan and a smartphone, usually via instalment payments for the device over 24 months (with commitment). The Luxembourg market is nonetheless dominated by SIM-only, no-commitment plans: buying the phone separately and taking a no-commitment plan is often cheaper overall. Compare the total 24-month cost (plan + device) before choosing.
Three options: Tango Prepaid (the GO card, the most used in the country, with built-in monthly data packs), POST TipTop (sets from €5 to €100, credit bonus on every top-up) and Orange Hello (€5-€30 top-ups, USA included in the roaming zone). ID registration is mandatory at purchase (law of 7 June 2017). Beyond a few weeks of regular use, a no-contract plan like Tango GO Mobile S (€16/month, 6 GB) almost always works out cheaper than a regularly topped-up card. Our prepaid vs plan analysis.
Yes — POST, Tango and Orange all offer eSIM: the operator profile downloads by scanning a QR code, no physical card needed. Compatible devices include iPhone since the XR (2018), Samsung Galaxy since the S20 (2020) and Google Pixel since the 3 — note that iPhones sold in mainland China and some Galaxy models sold in the US or Asia are not. The most common set-up in Luxembourg: physical SIM for the main number, eSIM for the work line. eSIM compatibility and activation in detail.
