A subsidiary of the public Encevo group, it supplies both electricity and natural gas, offers the widest product range in the country and also operates the regional brands Leo, NordEnergie and Steinergy. Enovos is Luxembourg’s leading energy supplier. Majority-owned by public stakeholders (State, municipalities, City of Luxembourg, SNCI) via the Encevo group, it combines electricity and gas supply, its own renewable generation and a range of services (electric mobility, renovation grants) that make it a complete energy partner rather than a mere supplier.

The Enovos group: Leo, NordEnergie, Steinergy and the Electris takeover

To read the market correctly: three other « suppliers » listed by the ILR are in fact regional brands of the Enovos group (Encevo) distributing exactly the same offers (naturstroum, nova naturstroum). In addition, Enovos took over Electris’s residential supply on 1 January 2025.

• ✓ Leo (Luxembourg Energy Office) — the City of Luxembourg brand, a 100% Enovos subsidiary since 2010.
• ✓ NordEnergie — the North brand (Ettelbruck and Diekirch), co-owned with Enovos.
• ✓ Steinergy — the Steinfort-area brand, co-owned with Enovos.
• ✓ Electris (ex-Hoffmann Frères) — since 1 January 2025, its electricity and gas supply to households has been taken over by Enovos. The Electris brand now focuses on energy services (solar, heat pumps, charging) and no longer supplies residential energy.

What to do in case of an outage or problem?

Key point: a power cut or a gas leak is not reported to the supplier, but to the network operator Creos, which runs the infrastructure and responds 24/7. Your supplier (Enovos) only handles the commercial side (contract, billing).

Good to know: switching supplier or having a commercial dispute never causes a power cut — supply is guaranteed by Creos whatever your supplier. For an unresolved dispute, the energy mediator (ILR) can be contacted.

The history of Enovos in Luxembourg

Enovos’s history is tied to the country’s energy development. It began in 1928 with the creation of the Compagnie Grand-Ducale d’Électricité (Cegedel). In 2009, the merger of Cegedel, Soteg and Saar Ferngas created Enovos. The following year, the group integrated Leo, the City of Luxembourg’s supplier.

From the 2010s, Enovos undertook its transformation: launch of the 100% green naturstroum offers, the Enoprimes renovation programme, then the my.enovos.lu customer area and the enodrive electric-mobility programme. More recently, the group has strengthened its role as a central player in the energy transition: renewable generation (solar, wind), charging stations, solar self-consumption, and the takeover of Electris’s residential supply in 2025.
